Garden Container Preparation

Once your garden container is positioned in your desired location and where necessary secured with appropriate fixings, you can prepare for planting by carrying out the following steps.

As our planters and containers are supplied pre-drilled with drainage holes, steps should be taken to prevent your compost from washing away. Traditionally broken crocks would be arranged in the bottom of the planter or garden container to prevent this from happening. We do not recommend this practice as rough handling the crocks could scratch or chip the paint finish. Instead we would recommend using 'Tenax' or a similar weed control fabric which can be cut to the shape of your planter and positioned in the base. The material is cheap effective and readily available from garden centres.

When filling your garden container or planter with compost take care when using metal garden tools to avoid chipping. The planters are robust but care will always pay dividends.
